National Quality Institute

The National Quality Institute is a not-for-profit organization committed to creating a new future for Canada by enhancing its competitiveness in global markets. This is achieved by providing Canadian organizations in business, education, government, and health care with the tools to implement quality, the opportunity to network, and the means to be recognized nationally through the Canadian Awards for Excellence in Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Quality.

Established in 1974, Peel Regional Police serves two rapidly growing cities using a community - based policing approach while maintaining centralized services, policies and procedures. In order to meet the many challenges of policing a diverse collection of municipalities, Peel has developed a Strategic Plan which evolves with the changing needs of the community and includes input from various stakeholders.

Through dedication to quality principles, employee empowerment, client satisfaction and innovative program development, Peel Regional Police has created a role model for excellence in policing and, as a result, has been selected as finalist in the QUALITY - GOVERNMENT category. For striving to meet the challenges of policing one of Canada's largest regions through a clear commitment to quality, particularly in the areas of leadership, planning for improvement, and employee empowerment.
