The Police Show
The Police Show is a half-hour television show airing weekly on Rogers TV.
The program has been a regular community cable feature since 1994. It is one of many ways Peel Regional Police reaches out to the community. The magazine format deals with law and safety issues along with an inside look at how this police service works to keep Peel “A Safer Community.”
Each show offers:
- News Desk - featuring major occurrences that have taken place that week. In many cases pictures or video from the scene of the crime are shown. The public’s assistance in the identification of a suspect or useful information called in can be invaluable to investigators in solving crimes.
- Profiles – about specialty bureaus such as Fraud, Central Robbery, the Tactical and Rescue Unit and the Communications radio room. These are behind the scenes looks at some of the technique, technology and special equipment this police service uses to do the job. Some items extend to other emergency service such as Fire and Ambulance.
- Crime Prevention – practical tips and information on how to protect your home and family. Whether it is home security, alarm systems, impaired driving or street racing, the informed view of a police officer is both useful and authoritative.
- Policing Issues – many societal problems eventually fall to a police service when it comes time to pick up the pieces. Child pornography and Internet luring, domestic abuse and elder abuse are all issues the public expects police to take an active role in preventing. Conversations with police officers who deal specifically with these problems, along with their community partners, inform viewers on subjects that need to be dealt with.
